Let's hope the server stands up to it this time, and it should be much more spam proof. Taken 60 hours, so it better be! -- Alan Winstanley EPE Online Editor

Hello All, congrats Alan on getting the new CZ up and running. is the URL specifically for the EPE chatzone, or is it on a chatzone server hosting other chatzones as well ?. I also see its a cgi program, so wondering if its written in perl or something other than PHP ?.. stylers |

The URL is dedicated to EPE, though the web (Linux) server hosts other web sites. The forum software is written in Perl (DiscusWare), and is well established. I chose it for its technical/ scientific markup, and it's also nice and easy to use without being over elaborate. -- Alan Winstanley EPE Online Editor

If you click the Members List icon (which lists members info, if they've opted in) you will see the difference. A username is just a nickname to ID you in the forum. (How to do Quotes? See formatting guide in Help -- copy and paste the text to be quoted, use markup around it to display as a Quote.) -- Alan Winstanley EPE Online Editor

(All), The displaying of "Full Names" on posts has now been disabled. This affects all new posts but not the current ones. I can (hopefully!) arrange to delete old posts that display full names if users request this. Occasional tweaks like this may be necessary and I hope everyone can bear with us. -- Alan Winstanley EPE Online Editor

It is good to have EPE chat zone going again. In a recent voyage to Europe I've bought EPE magazine and found it excellent. Congratulations for the good job! Agustín Tomás |
