does anyone know were to get a free e-book on how to use MPLAB ide and PICKIT1??
been a long time since i last posted as im having half-yearly exams.

Go to www.microchip.com and search for "MPLAB quick start guide". Manual on same page. Free pdf downloads.

If you are looking for documentation that instructs on how to use them together, I don't know of any.

But as noted, Microchip has plenty of docs on using their MPLAB ide.

(I don't know what PICKIT1 is)

PICKIT1 is one of Microchips cheap programmers. Limited range (of devices), more of an experimenters job.
