Hi,
Does anyone know if there's an online index of Ingenuity Unlimited submissions and the magazines they appeared in? I've seen the Projects Index on the EPE website, but there doesn't seem to be an equivalent for IU articles.
Thanks,
Phil.

It's a nice idea but I'm afraid there isn't an index for the IU series, due to the resources that would be needed to maintain it.

Thanks

I've just finished entering the 1998 IU archive into PostgreSQL. I might see about throwing together a little PHP web interface to the data, then maybe add support for other columns - Circuit Surgery, Techniques: Actually Doing It and Interface are the ones that spring to mind.
Seems a full article index like this would be very handy. Problem is, I've only got article indexes for 1998 onwards, plus all this year's EPEs. Adding articles is fairly easy - I've got a little program that converts a text file into a series of SQL INSERT commands. All you do is feed it a text file of a given format, and everything goes straight into the database. I'm not sure what I'd do about the data - maybe add a "Download CSV file" option.

Would anyone at EPE object to me doing this on an unofficial basis?

I once tried building a database of the specialist components used in magazine articles, on the basis it might be useful when puzzling over a prototype that doesn't work.

The problem is that with 30-odd years worth of various magazines - Practical Wireless, EE/EPE, ETI, even Radio Control Models & Electronics (!), it's just too huge a job :-)

It would be a nice resource, though - a lot of proven Application Notes.

(Philpem)

Can't see any problem at all if you wanted to create your own IU etc. article index for others to use. Keep me posted with progress,

Thanks,
