I need a source for the Powertip PG12684-F Graphics Lcd or one that is a direct replacement.
I am going to build the Sudoku puzzle unit as shown in the July 2006 EPE and would like to use the same parts if possible. I am located in the
state of Oregon,USA.

Is there a real need for it to be the exact replacement??

Like because of the PCB or something??

As long as it uses the same chipset as the one John selected, it would work.

The only issue being the PCB, but if you used a short cable to connect the LCD from the PCB, that would not be an issue.

So, we just need to know what chipset is in the LCD John selected for his project.

(sounds like I'm also going to build one as both of my parents are Soduko nuts now....)

Good timing on this one Mr. Becker!!

Curious, I thought I'd replied too - saying mine came from RS Components in the UK.

RS are available via http:\rswww.com or 0857 201201 (UK prefix code needed if phoning from outside uk). The order code is 329-0329. It was £27.92 when I bought it.

The GLCD uses the Toshiba T6963C controller chip. I discussed the GLCD in EPE Feb 01 issue "How to use Graphocs Liquid Crystal Displays with PICs".

Obiwan, I hope you enjoy building the unit, and your parents enjoy using it - I enjoyed designing & programming it!

the only thing I would be concerned about is wiring schemes and how the backlight is controlled ,if there is a need for a seperate
inverter or controller or does it come as a
complete unit.
