For some time I've wanted to create sound to light project. Probably using FFT and a microcontroller. I would like to have as many lights as possible. Hopefully 10 frequencys and 10 LED's per freq. Can anyone point me in the right direction

Hi,there are a few microcontroller (PIC and ATMEL) based spectrum analyzers on the web.
Have a look at http://www.circuitcellar.com/library/print/0998/Lacoste98/ for one that connects directly to a VGA monitor, but you could see from it how the FFT has been done. Also have a look at http://instruct1.cit.cornell.edu/courses/ee476/FinalProjects/s1999/lisa/ , http://www.aaroncake.net/circuits/3chspec.htm ,
http://www.nitehawk.com/rasmit/sa50.html , and http://www.ethanwiner.com/spectrum.html for ideas.
Regards,
Darren

Cheers Darren. I feel it could be a long road, but I'll have a go.
