Is the Early Effect, which gives rise to hre (dVbe/dVce), related to the Early Voltage which gives rise to hoe (dIc/dVce)?

I seem to recall in the very dim & very distant past that PE had a design for an audio amp that went to some trouble to eliminate the Early effect from the class A driver. (?PE Gemini?).

In those days I wouldn't have known what the Early effect was if it had bitten me on the bum.

Thanks Boris. I read the Wiki article which describes the Early Voltage giving rise to hoe (r0 in the article) but does not mention the dependence of Vbe on Vce (Early Effect). That's what confused me in the first place.

We hope you'll enjoy this month's (November issue) Circuit Surgery as Ian has adopted this as the main topic for discussion.
