I'm tempted to have a go at building the USB Multi-Instrument Interface project as I'm a keen DIY HiFi-er and amp builder.

A question. The 2 rotary switches that attenuate input and output signals.. does its matter if they're make-before-break or break-before-make?

Having looked at the circuit I'd say that it should work with either type of switch, but by preference (for this circuit) I would use a M-B-B as that ensures there is always a load on the signal path.

I agree, and if a BBM type were critical the parts list would specify it.
