hi

i am looking at using a 2x16 lcd screen with the LPLC, but as the LPLC runs at 3.3v and the screen at 5V. is there an easier way to interface them other than putting a FET inbetween the micro pins and the lcd input pins?

Mike,

In case you didn't know, you can now get 3.3v LCD screens.
https://www.sparkfun.com/products/9054

Since you will probably just be sending commands to the LCD and not reading it, you can try it with no level shifting at all. Most logic would see 3.3v as a HIGH.

You could also try some pull ups on the LCD inputs; say 2.2K to help drag the input up a little.

Regards,
Joe

I gave up using 5v displays last year; my examples with the LPLC use a 3V LCD. It's so much easier.

It was discussed here back in May

I forget where you are located, but this link is good for sources in the UK or Europe

Joe's link is great if you are in the 'States.

Cheers,

Mike.

That's a good price, and the specification seems fine.
