Hi everybody long time no hear! I recently purchased one of the Deluxe Lead acid battery zappers and the BY229-200 fast recovery diode has given up on life and I can't seem to source an equivalent anywhere.

Has anybody got any suggestions?

RS, Farnell, grandata or Donberg electronics should have this, or a faster equivalent.

Cricklewood Electronics list the BY229-800, which should work okay. Not sure why the original diode failed, but a higher current type might be worth substituting.

As well as the suppliers mentioned, Rapid have a couple that should also work,

Guy's sourced some from littlediode.com. I have to replace this in the Jaycar deluxe lead acid battery zapper which I still cant get to work properly. If you read the problem threads on this on the Jaycar webiste you will see my frustration!
